Studio Lime were appointed to transform a former builder’s merchants into a modern headquarters for Wadworth Brewery, supporting their relocation and operational modernisation. The project reimagined the site to enhance brewing efficiency, improve logistics, and create a welcoming, contemporary workplace that reflects the brewery’s heritage.
Studio Lime were appointed to support Wadworth Brewery’s relocation from their home in the centre of Devizes to a new site on the outskirts of Devizes. The move was part of the brewery’s wider ambition to modernise operations for the 21st century. The new facility enables more efficient brewing processes while preserving the quality and heritage of a brand deeply rooted in the local market town.
The existing warehouse, formerly a builder’s merchants, offered a generous open-plan footprint ideal for brewing operations. However, its tired exterior and outdated office spaces were far from suitable for a flagship headquarters. The transformation focused on both functionality and presentation, turning a utilitarian shell into a contemporary, welcoming workplace.
Externally, the site was reconfigured to ensure safe and efficient movement of heavy goods vehicles, with designated zones for offloading raw materials and collecting stock. Planting beds were introduced around the entrance and office frontage, softening the industrial setting and guiding pedestrian flow through clearly defined safe walking zones.
The flat roof single storey shop and offices of the builder’s merchants underwent a complete overhaul. Internally, it was reimaged as modern offices, featuring both open plan office space, separate offices, breakout spaces, a new board room and a kitchenette. Externally, the dated cladding, safety bars, and single-glazed aluminium windows were replaced with high-performance glazing and contemporary timber cladding. The new entrance was relocated from the centre of the office block to one end, marked by an angled timber overhang that extends along the brewhouse façade, creating a backdrop for welcome signage and establishing a clear point of arrival for visitors and staff alike.
