Located within the University of Bristol’s Grade II listed Geographical Sciences building, this project saw the combination of a number of existing study spaces, to form a single, specialist teaching laboratory.

The project was fast-tracked, with an initial commission inSpring 2022 and successful handover of the project in September of the same year ready for the new intake.

This required a proactive approach from the whole design and construction teams.

Modern partitions were taken down and existing doorways and windows were re-exposed in order to create a new space that exhibited the historic nature of the building. Careful coordination of the building services and new elements of structure was required to mitigate harm to the historic fabric and regular meetings with the Conservation and Heritage Officers were organised to simplify the approval process.
