Relocation of research laboratories at the University of Bath, delivered in close collaboration with end users to meet precise environmental and operational requirements.
The University of Bath campus is going through an exciting period of change, which involves the strategic reorganisation of existing accommodation to unlock buildings for development as part of the wider masterplan. Among the many small-scale projects supporting this transformation was the relocation of several research laboratories from 3 West to 8 West.
While modest in scale compared to the wider masterplan, the project was complex and technical demanding.
The project required close collaboration with the end users, who brought a clear vision for how the new spaces should function.
From the outset, they provided detailed equipment schedules, which covered both existing and new specialist equipment, including dimensions and service requirements.
This proactive input was essential in shaping the design and layout of the laboratories.
